About Tom

Tom plays dozens of instruments, literally dozens...some of which he doesn't even know what they're called. A long time collector of musical instruments, he restores them and repairs them, not to rescue their history, but just because he's too cheap to pay for any software for the instruments he wants on his recordings and he can't afford shiny new stuff. He says his choices of instruments to collect usually comes down to two factors, "I don't have one of those yet" and "It was there and I had cash". Some of his exploits include going to pick up a glockenspiel and coming home with timpani, bringing home a cello from a business training, buying a ukulele during a haircut, returning from a car show with a sitar...also purchasing an accordion at a car show, and going to a flea market and buying a horn just because neither the buyer nor him knew what kind of horn it was...twice...same seller. Tom has only been formerly trained on trumpet when he was a child. In college he took classes in piano and trumpet, but those instructors quickly gave up on his stubbornness. Tom likes to think it's his learning difficulties (which he has been diagnosed with) that caused him to have trouble taking instruction, but it's more than likely just his bad attitude (which he hasn't been diagnosed with, but is well documented).
Tom writes and arranges all of his own music, plays all of the instruments on the songs, and does all the recording, mixing, and mastering himself, he is either a musical genius or it's just that no one else wants to work with him.
All instruments sounds are actual instruments with the exception of a MIDI keyboard for piano/organ and his acoustic drums are triggered and converted to MIDI because he's too lazy to mic a drum set correctly. He doesn't use any loops or sequencing simply because he doesn't have the patience to learn how to do it. He also records all the vocals himself, because he has no friends that want to record with him because of his OCD tendencies to rerecord over and over to try to get the takes to sound like they sound in his head.
Without a friend pushing him he would probably still be just "writing" and refusing to record, but that one person gave him the support to finally start recording and releasing music and he says he's forever grateful for that.
